After lounging about until noon, which I never do, the boy and I headed to Apple headquarters. I never lounge until noon mostly because I never miss breakfast. The boy is not the breakfast type, but realizing the importance of this, we stopped by Krispy Kreme - there being no chic-fil-a within an 80 mile radius.
California is a deprived place.
And yes, if you're counting, that is Krispy Kreme 2 days in a row.
We are disgusting people.
And it doesn't stop there.
Seriously.
3 days after climbing out of the canyon, we are still happily making our way through the food craving list and well on our way to making ourselves the most unattractive people on the west coast.
We dream big.
Literally.
So we get to the mecca of the cult and its just as, well, Apple as you would imagine. Electric vehicle parking with charging stations, super clean design, and all.
"And all" also featuring Cafe Macs which served us the closest thing to the amazing pizza and gelato that I had in Paris. I hate to say it, but if I lived in the area I would probably con him out of taking me 2 or 3 times a week just for pizza at Cafe Macs.
It was the perfect day to eat outside so we enjoyed our food quietly while basking in the sun and truly enjoying the flavor every bite had as we watched appropriately dressed hipsters walk by or lay on the grass on company-provided towels.
Afterwards we ate again.
No, I'm not kidding.
There's a Japanese fast food joint called Yoshinoya. That looks about as appealing as eating in some slave kitchen in the ghetto.
The food is the equivalent of Japanese-style soul food. Sure, it's not the healthiest, but it tasted pretty amazing. And the combos come, not with a starch, but dessert! Cheesecake to be exact. Why don't all fast food combos give me a dessert instead of a starch. I'm thinking Chic-Fil-A is the only one that does something of the like (trade the kids toy in for an icedream cone) in their kids meal.
I'm really a sucker for scenic drives so we went to Highway 1 AKA Pacific Coast Highway, which was the highlight of my trip when I came in March and drove up starting from Half-Moon Bay and stopping by the Coastside farmer's market in Pacifica for some amazing hummus and baked goods.
Dinner was at The Stinking Rose. If you're a garlic-lover, this is your place. I had some awesome shrimp soup and the boy had their meat loaf, which was pretty good - apparently good enough for him to claim it as his dying meal.
To each his own.
I was missing home by this point so we stopped by Safeway on the way home to get some things for our Yosemite hike the next day and, more importantly, to make mom's chocolate chip cookie pie.
I was able to stop myself from eating all the batter so we actually had a pie to bake while we watched Nick and Norah's infinite playlist.
I'm surprised we even made it through the movie as exhausted as we were.
Well, off to at least start on the Yosemite post!
Much love.
